Match Report

Cillit Bang FC with an extremely competitive performance... back with a Bang!

Marriot Wanderers from Division 1 currently sitting in 6th having won 3 lost 3 providing a good test for Cillit Bang FC under no pressure to help find some form they desperately need. No injury concerns, just Matty and Bang both unavailable for tonight's game.

A lively start to the game with good passing, skill and composure from Cillit Bang FC, limiting the opponent to minimal attempts and unlike previous games took the lead deservedly after 5 minutes.

GOAL Wrench takes the ball down the left, inside and slips in Long on a diagonal run in behind the defender and slides it past the keeper.

Confidence was there to see throughout the team after recent drubbings, players were passing and beating opposition players and feeling more confident on the ball, despite a setback with the equalizer it didn't take long to regain the lead.

GOAL Good pressure from Stroud in the opposing half passes to Lambon who fires left footed in his first of the match and season.

Wrench had to substitute himself after shaky play - not clearing the ball quick enough and needing a fine catch by Stroud to keep the lead intact.

GOAL Ball picked up by Lucho, passed to Stroud who ran past the midfielder into space and shot from a distance into the bottom left corner.

Although the opponent brought scores level before half-time it was clear that this game was there for Cillit Bang FC to win and was just what they needed to turn their league form around. All players with their heads up at half-time (a sign of things to come we hope).

Half-Time Score: Cillit Bang FC 3-3 Marriot Wanderers

2nd game back for Lucho and was catalyst to a lot of the good play with quick control, holding the ball up and slipping pass after pass around the pitch, rewarded in the 30th minute by scoring his first of the season.

GOAL Wrench picks up the ball shoots twice with both feet getting caught with Long on the second attempt, Lucho banging his 1st goal of the season in from long range despite the confusion.

A few unfortunate deflections after 1st shot saves from Stroud landed at the opponents feet, luckily for Cillit Bang FC the rebound shots lacked composure with the empty net begging.

GOAL High pressure on the opponent from Lambon tackling the defender and firing the ball left-footed into the top right of the goal, his second of the night.

With end to end action both keepers were pulling off save after save.

Positional play was still lacking as on a few occasions opposition players were finding themselves free in the wrong half under no pressure. Perhaps the five goals already scored were creeping into the minds of CIllit Bang FC as they went in search of more, letting Marriot Wanderers come from 2 goals behind to equalise.

A bizarre stop in play for a free kick was taking too long by Marriot Wanderers, Long unhappy decided he'd had enough and lobbed it forward, escaping a booking.

With the scores level, excitement from Cillit Bang FC cost them as too many players were pushing forward for more goals, getting caught in possession and conceding 2 quick counter-attack goals. Opponent was free on the edge of the box for the first, another turning Stroud outside the area and smashing home to make sure of the result.

On the final whistle, Lambon fortunate not to concede a penalty when he passes back to Stroud inside the area.

Second Half Score: Cillit Bang FC 2-4 Marriot Wanderers

Final Result: Cillit Bang FC 5 - 7 Marriot Wanderers
