A Winning Start

Another season, this time welcomed with new shirts and names. The shirts unfortunately were not available in time for the match so the green shirts were there for another day.

With a new season comes new optimism, the latter games of season 5 were of better quality, points wise and goals scored, so a target of a few more wins perhaps not too much to ask for?

With the new combined league format, Cillit Bang FC were playing in the bottom division 4.

Mike and Dariush were unable to play, 6 Oscar (Robinson) and 12 Rizzo (Nathan) came in with the regulars: 4 Beaker (4 Lambon), 5 Gonzo (8 Lucho), 14 Kermit (14 Stroud) and 17 Swedish Chef (17 Wrench)

The names using a theme of Muppets, we'll see where this goes then.

Goal 1-0 // 14 Kermit - Assist 12 Rizzo

From the back Oscar passes to Rizzo, bringing the ball forward he picks out Kermit's run on the wing. A simple side foot finish across the goalkeeper gets the season underway.

With some lax play, an opposition player breaks from his own penalty box and unchallenged scores a simple goal from a long way out, with Stroud's position too far over from the centre of his goal.

Goal 2-1 // 17 Swedish Chef

Closing down the defender the Chef nips the ball off him and is in on goal, sliding the ball into the far corner.

Goal 3-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 5 Gonzo

As the ball is laid off from Rizzo, Gonzo lofts the ball into the back post area for the Swedish Chef, as he cushions it down the Chef rolls the ball around the side of the defender and slots the ball underneath the goalkeeper to double the lead.

Just before the 1st half draws to a close an opposition defender surges forward forcing Stroud to make a strong save in a half where he's had little to do.
