A. Muppet Pokes Crazy Winner
As the team looked for their season double over opponents Stur Crazy, would a host of changes from that match affect the outcome. Scorers Oscar and Rizzo along with Fozzie were not available and with both backups Doug and Nick not free, a new goalkeeper was drafted in by Big Bird with an appearance from Will and Hoss providing a subs bench of three.
First Half
With early precedings Stur Crazy posed the most danger due to some poor marking as the crossbar was struck direct from a poor first goalkick. With Hoss on always in control of the ball under pressure he wriggles through the middle of the pitch and is dispossessed at the last man, Beaker's quick lofted dink behind the defense is snuffed out. Beaker himself plays on a bad scooped pass by the defender and shoots with a controlled volley into the arms of the goalkeeper. Cillit Bang FC were unfortunate not to get rewarded from a back pass as the defender under pressure from a two on one opportunity in the middle of the pitch, poked the ball back to his keeper but very much disguised in the tangle with A. Muppet and Swedish Chef, it was a close call for Stur Crazy.
Goal 1-0 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist Hoss
Hoss standing up reads the pass to intercept taking him past the opposing player into a two on one position from the right wing, as he comes under some pressure he releases the pass across the box to a free Chef, by not cushioning the ball enough the ball is fortunately allowed to roll on a bit further wide throwing the keeper off balance, Swedish Chef wraps his foot around the ball to score under the keeper.
Kermit pressuring from the kick off passes to Chef who shoots too quick, missing the net by a distance. As the shooting opportunities stack up Hoss passes out of defense to Chef, after losing the ball temporarily a quick tackle later he passes infield for Will to have a shot, disappointed in himself he shoots on target but at the keeper. Stur Crazy tried to strike back with a shot from distance heading in the top left corner, a great save and few corners later, Kermit again winning the ball his diagonal pass into A. Muppet's feet was cut out for a corner. Hoss was close at the corner attempting a chop towards goal, Gonzo had a stab at goal though the position he was in made the angle too great to shoot on target.
Stur Crazy forced the keeper into another good save, as it rolled past the post, turning up the pressure in the last few minutes before the half time whistle, an abundance of blocked shots, some crosses shut out and a lone shot on target was saved, as the brunt was bared. Kermit found himself with three quarters of the pitch free with no defenders from a Big Bird blocked shot, however his mid air control of the ball caught the ball on his foot causing it to roll towards the keeper. Distraught he had let off the all out attack opposition.
Second Half
A lively start to the second half with a good move put together from Will, Kermit and Swedish Chef as Will starts the move off from the edge of his box and sets off to the opposition goal while Kermit sends a through ball to Chef, picking Will out on the back post he is inches away from converting the tap in chance.
Goal 2-1 // 10 A. Muppet
Hoss wins the ball with a tackle looking for A. Muppet on the cross, as the tracking back Stur Crazy player attempts to intercept the pass he deflects the ball off the keeper and manages to clear off the line. A. Muppet prods the loose ball towards the far bottom right corner, the downed player cannot stop the ball going in by cheekily using his hands. A. Muppet scores his first goal of the season.
Into the second half leading 2-0 could a very rare clean sheet be looming, well not so from a good goalscoring opposition as Hoss lofted a ball into Kermit's path but by not controlling it he loses possession. From back to front and missed tackles from Big Bird and Swedish Chef, before the opposition striker is allowed to progress Chef decides to dispossess him, however the tackle is poked perfectly in the bottom right corner of the net to Chef's dismay.
With some close quarters passing in the CBFC area Hoss passed the ball out of the dangerzone to A. Muppet, very nearly hooking the ball around the defender to the free Chef. Chef was also involved in another attacking move linking up with Big Bird, however Bird's final touch let him down when in on goal.
Stur Crazy could have levelled had it not been for the keeper, a long goalkick and neat trick allowed the runner to have a shot, however the keeper was on top of the ball to prevent any direction on the shot. Hoss down the other end had his first shot blocked. Hoss with a cleverly chopped pass inside of his heel onto Chef's run, wriggling out of the corner from 2 defenders Chef should have done better with his pass to either Hoss or Will waiting for the shot.
Though Stur Crazy threatened there was not a sense of panic in the CBFC defense but a case of holding onto the lead.
Goal 3-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist Hoss
A breather came in the form of a doubled lead, Will takes a kick in to Hoss, as he breaks into the box he unselfishingly lays the ball off to the unmarked Chef, for him to bag his brace hitting back across the keeper netting his fifteenth goal of the season.
As the match drew to a close and the ball travelling end to end Stur Crazy hit the post from a corner and narrowly missing the target twice after winning the loose ball on two occassion within seoncds of each other. Though Stur Crazy had more shots on the day Cillit Bang FC were clinical with their shots to do the double.
