CBFC edged out in Thriller
No Subs this week as Kermit rejoins the side after injury, Gonzo is still out sick, A Muppet is unavailable. The major news is the Cillit Bang FC goalkeeper Stroud suffered a fragile fracture on his finger last weekend and is now in a cast and expected to be out for the next 3 months, thus Oscar moves from outfield into the goal.
Cillit Bang FC started very brightly and had numerous chances to shoot in the starting period, passing was okay in the early periods as the teams got into the game. Oscar showed early signs of a coolness in the goal.
Goal 1-0 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 14 Kermit
Rizzo breaks down an attack, Kermit wins the kick in, Kermit slides it down the line to the Chef, cutting inside he comes through the tackle, travelling to just outside the box he swings his left foot at the ball, it arrows into the top right corner in off the crossbar.
The lead doesn't last for longer than a minute, a quick counter attack from Two Left Feet, the defender unchallenged brings the ball into the CBFC half and shots a powerful shot which takes Oscar by surprise as he is done by the power.
The scores level didn't last for longer than a minute as a kick in deep in the corner is blasted into the box, the clearance falls to an attacker, the off target shot blocked by Big Bird rebounds into the chest of Rizzo and into the goal.
The quickfire goals had an effect on the confidence of the good start from the CBFC players, unable to really force any forward play in the following minutes, Rizzo's neat turn and shot the only standout highlight whereas Two Left Feet were probing with some decent shots themselves.
After a fine save from the header of Rizzo a poor corner from Swedish Chef leads into a 3 on 1 situation at the back, a diagonal pass read by Oscar as he tries to stop the early shot, unfortunately as the attacker dives in he pokes it awkwardly past Oscar and into the net.
Goal 2-3 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 17 Swedish Chef
Bang on the stroke of half time 14 Kermit wins a header from the opposition free kick, Big Bird picks up the loose ball and passes to Swedish Chef, a turn around the oncoming defender he thread the ball through to Rizzo, sorting out his footing he side foots it in the bottom corner.
Second Half
Up in the corner from the goal kick Rizzo loses out on possession, a zig zag of passes and neat one twos results in the attacker getting in behind the defense and a shot with the outside of the boot re-establishes the two goal lead within the first minute of the second half.
Straight away a corner kick is won and from there Kermit after winning the ball awkwardly his sweeping shot hits the outside of the post. Rizzo wins the ball and on the charge his shot is saved after skipping past a tackle. The clearance falling to Big Bird, a quick pass to keep the pace up, Swedish Chef dashes past the defender, his initial on target shot bends agonisingly past the post.
Two Left Feet got back in the action and should have scored and punished some slack defending. Again they got in down the left, some poor finishing though kept the hope up for Cillit Bang FC to get back into this competitive match.
Beaker looking for his first goal turns from the oncoming tackle controls the ball and strikes his shot after picking his spot, this time the left side of the post is hit and the third goal still wouldn't come.
Goal 3-4 // 12 Rizzo Assist 6 Oscar
Finally the next goal for CBFC, Oscar rolls the ball out to Rizzo, after his pass to Swedish Chef fails to come off he collects the ball and with the outside of the right foot, hits it in the top left corner.
The last few minutes were a bit of a frenzy, everyone trying to go for the win, Rizzo linking up well with Kermit in a series of passes, the Rizzo shot tame. Lambon with the best chance brings the ball down from the crossfield pass, no real clear though what to do with the ball in the position, pass or shoot as he was put under good pressure.
Sadly nearing the final 2 minutes, Big Bird fails to clear his lines, the ball falls to the attacker who squares the ball for a tap in.
