Even Stevens, Missed Opportunity?
New goalie this week, with Oscar the backup unavailable Doug was drafted in to help out, Gonzo was back in the side after 3 weeks out, A Muppet (hand injury) came in for Rizzo (unavailable) and Kermit was still unwell this time with Tonsillitis.
It would be fair to say Jabalani's Legacy had the more dangerous chances in the first half however some poor finishing in the Cillit Bang FC box and strong defending from Big Bird kept the net free.
The very first move however was to CBFC from back to front through Big Bird and Swedish Chef brought Kermit in on the right, his shot though excellently saved.
That was very much the half, Jabalani's Legacy the better team in passing terms and as the rain pelted down, Cillit Bang FC couldn't seem to find enough rhythm to threaten the opposition goal.
Second Half
More probing play from Cillit Bang FC at the start of the second half, which was punished after Jabalani's Legacy scored with the first shot of the half, perhaps at the mistake of the goalie who tries to catch the ball but deserved none the less.
Goal 1-1 Swedish Chef - Assist 4 Beaker
Cillit Bang FC's first attack is broken down from kick-off, Big Bird wins the ball from the cross and Gonzo puts through a perfectly weighted pass to Beaker, his great run comes off as his ball across the goal is tucked in by the Swedish Chef to level the scores within a minute of conceding the first.
More pressure as Big Bird dinks the ball into Chef's feet, his shot block with good support from Kermit unrewarded.
From an unlucky free kick from handball the lead is restored as from the goalkeeper to attacker little pressure and not following the runner allows an easy shot at goal with a strong finish. The second shot of the half. The lead should have been extended, after the ball evaded Big Bird and Beaker, Gonzo's missed tackle the opposition player was centre of the goal with no pressure and lashed it wide unaware he had so much time. Another chance came when Jabalani's Legacy got in too easy down the right, the shot was wide of the far post after good pressure from Doug in goal.
A good forward run from Kermit is found with a lofted pass by Big Bird, Kermit's cross is cancelled but he wins the corner.
Goal 2-2 Big Bird - Assist 4 Beaker
Beaker picks out Big Bird from the corner, unmarked and on the volley he equalises. Fine finish.
Dominating the closing period and end of the match CIllit Bang FC started an onslaught. Starting with a fine headed clearance from Kermit, just before heading out of play, Beaker keeps it in and setting Swedish Chef down the wing, with the onrushing goalkeeper, the Chef's left footed effort is over the crossbar.
Immediately from the goal kick, a very lax pass and Kermit is hot on the ball, passing to Chef, controlling the ball on the bounce and pressure from the goalkeeper again a lack of composure is costly with the shot drifting past the post.
Swedish Chef starts off a counter attack with a defensive headed clearance in the box, Beaker keeps control of the ball and lifts a pass through to Kermit which falls for Swedish Chef, his left footed sot in the top corner is tipped over.
Straight from the corner Beaker puts enough pressure on the attacker to help win the ball back from the last attack of the match for Jabalani's Legacy who have seemed to run out of gas nearing the end of the match. Back on the attack, Beaker slips the ball down the wing for Swedish Chef, he turns effectively 180, enters the box, and pass across the box to Kermit. Kermit scuppers the chance to win the match as his shot is wide of the post with an open goal gaping.
Both Swedish Chef and Kermit should have won the match, however on the night it just wasn't to be unforunately. The point halts the run of three defeats since the start of the season.
