Chef Wonder Goal sets up 3 points

With Rizzo back in the side and Oscar and M. Stroud out through injuries, Cillit Bang FC started the game with 2 subs versus an opponent in TDFC that they have played twice before, a 4-2 loss and 3-1 win.

First Half

The match started with TDFC a man down awaiting a couple of players who were late, CBFC looked to take advantage. The first five minutes were dominated with shots. One each from Swedish Chef and Big Bird just past the two posts, Rizzo and Big Bird having further blocked attempts. Most of the possession coming from giveaway passes by TDFC, as can be said for the best move in the early period of the match, with a poor pass rolling out for a goalkick, Doug passes short to Big Bird, who in turn passes down the line to Rizzo, with an excellent dummy he chases after the ball and picks out Kermit with the cross whose double shots are both blocked by the lone defender. From the resulting kick-in Rizzo heads over from Beaker's pass.

TDFC's first attempt came after a quick kick-in found an unmarked defender who struck the ball well over. Turning up the pressure and taking over the attacking spell of play forced Swedish Chef to make a blocked shot and straight from the headed clearance of Big Bird a well struck volley was inches over the crossbar. CBFC soon re-established the attacking momentum and duly took the lead.

Goal 1-0 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 14 Kermit

Rizzo passes deep into the box to Kermit, a fine layoff for Rizzo to produce a powerful side foot finish for a well deserved first goal.

In the ascendancy not too long after the goal Kermit wins the ball direct from the out of position goalkeeper but his sliced shot is not enough to punish the keeper for leaving his unguarded net, similar to a chance Beaker had earlier. The half ended with the ball mostly in midair and a poor free kick for TDFC.

Second Half

After a brief period in the TDFC half, the equaliser came, venturing into the Cillit Bang FC half and evading the tackle Big Bird, before the ball went out of play the goalscorer had pulled away from Beaker to slot it past Doug. Appeals from Rizzo, Gonzo and Beaker to the ref for the ball going out of play were not taken and the goal stood.

Immediately Big Bird launches a great pass down the right channel for Rizzo and Gonzo to work the opposition defense. Rizzo's wicked pass across goal nicked by the defender for a corner, inches from a tap in.

Goal 2-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 8 Big Bird

Beaker and Big Bird clear their lines with Big Bird poking the ball to an advanced position. Swedish Chef runs onto the ball and allows the ball to move across his body for a sweetly struck volley into the far post from the other side of goal. A serious contender for goal of the season.

Goal 3-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 12 Rizzo

Swedish Chef doubles the lead holding off the defender and slotting the ball underneath the keeper's legs off the flick on header won by Rizzo directly from the headed clearance of Gonzo in a swift move up the pitch.

For the third week in a row, Cillit Bang FC were dominant in most areas of the game and like last week were scoring great goals and shutting out the opposing attackers giving Doug in goal little to do. The only shot on target in the first 20 mintues was a goal to TDFC. Kermit started to appear in advanced positions coming from the back, after being put through by Rizzo his outside flick is comfortably saved.

Kermit determined in defense on numerous occassions was unlucky after winning the ball, surging forward after linking up with a backheel of Rizzo he scoops his shot over after moving infield. These efforts were made with decent chances for TDFC, however the lacklustre finishing could not make Doug to produce a save. The only save Doug made in the match was when he came out early to block out the weak shot for a corner.

Swedish Chef replacing Kermit and temporarily marking the striker got a touch to the long kick-in where the ball should have been left to go out, this was costly as the resulting corner was headed in at the back post to reduce the deficit to 1 goal with less than a couple of minutes play. This should have been awkward for the CBFC defense had it not been for too much power on the free kick taken by the TDFC goalkeeper, won off the foul of Rizzo.

In the end it was a well deserved 3 points for Cillit Bang FC with some very strong goals from Swedish Chef and Rizzo, with assists courtesy of Big Bird, Kermit and Rizzo. Unfortunately too for Beaker who was looking to extend his goalscoring tally from the hat-trick the week before.
