Detailed Synopsis of the match with team news with a few screenshots from the game.
Early pressure when the ball was played into the Cillit Bang FC start was forcing pressure in attack allowing the midfielders to join in to the attack, Swedish Chef having a shot go wide, Kermit from a tight angle shooting on target then firing the ball across the box through Chef's legs, unable to turn it in.
Goal 1-0 // 14 Kermit - Assist 17 Swedish Chef
Big Bird winning all the balls outside the penalty area, allows Will to clear the ball down the line. Swedish Chef passes an early crossfield ball for Kermit to set himself and slot in the bottom right corner his 3rd goal of the season. Just a few more until a century of goals for Kermit.
Kermit tackling and Will link up to put in Swedish Chef, by stepping infield the shot intended for the far post has no curl to trouble the goal. Takes 6 To Tango were finding it extremely difficult to string 2 passes together. Further defensive pressure, winning the ball back was providing attacking momentum, Will and Beaker working a key pass into Swedish Chef's feet, the turn and slotted shot was millimetres past the wrong side of the post.
Either Takes 6 To Tango were going to get their act together or someone in the defense of CBFC were going to make a mistake, Doug the unfortunate party here by making a hash of a wasted goal kick allowing the opposition a corner which they duly take full advantage of. The finisher allowed to run, despite Big Bird getting a foot on the turned shot the scores were level.
Having got a goal back and a couple of subs the match flow changed for a brief period. Takes 6 To Tango were forcing a couple of shots on goal, the shots mostly high or wide had no effect on the confidence of the best team so far as CBFC turned on the quickfire style. Gonzo had shot straight at the keeper after a move was broken down. A few more forward moves were put in place.
Goal 2-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist Will
With Will and Gonzo exchanging passes from a possible difficult situation, Will slips the ball through to Swedish Chef, catching up on a slightly loose first touch with just a couple of feet off the byline a shot scross goal gets a nick off the defenders foot and the keeper can only flap at the ball.
On the charge again Will somewhat fortunate not to conceded a foul wrestles the ball away from the striker and sending a through pass to Swedish Chef, beating the defender to the ball he wins a free kick from the challenge just outside the edge of the area.
Goal 3-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Free Kick
With A. Muppet distracting the goalkeeper on the line, Swedish Chef punishes the weak wall as the strike straight through it results in the second goal within a minute. Swedish Chef's third brace of goals in four games.
It took until the end of the half until Doug was tasked with producing a save after a slight touch on the shot from Gonzo, the defender moving through the centre of CBFC too easily. The second ball won from the save was not turned in, flashing across the goal.
Doug made early saves early on with the opposition wanting to swap the match ball around with a different one as a CBFC sub was taking place, whether this should have been allowed was a question not asked.
Takes 6 To Tango got the first breakthrough, Beaker just missing out on tracking the scorer's run for the kick in for the shot past Doug. Within a minute the scores were level after poor passing gifted the opposition with a stream of possession. Cillit Bang FC completely lost all momentum, there was no passing or keeping possession of the ball for very long, Penned into the box Doug was making saves blocking any passes.
It was a matter of time until the lead was lost as the space for a shot was worked from a corner, too hard to save. Pass to Will, pass to Kermit, pass to opposition striker, shot, goal. That was the next ten seconds of play from the kick off, not very ideal when the scoreline still had one goal difference, a poor five minutes had cost the healthy lead to a situation with no chance to come back. It was the reverse of the cup game the sunday before where CBFC had roared to a winning position in the second half after being two goals behind. This time though with Swedish Chef and Gonzo off the pitch the team had lost their shape and there was no guile or forward players to push back Takes 6 To Tango midfielders / defenders.
With a few subs and the opposition not needing goals the attacks had halted yet the keeping of the ball still needed work. Gonzo tackled well but made the mistake of stopping the ball on the line leaving it free for the opposition player to pick it up and travel unopposed to the goal to score. Kermit, Will and Swedish Chef having not been on the pitch for the second half at the same time had a bad effect on this outcome, after doing so well in the first period with numerous attacks created it was a dissappointing second half of the match.
