Detailed Synopsis of the match with team news with a few screenshots from the game.
Goal 1-0 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 1 Fozzie
What better way to fight with your top four rivals than to immediately take the advantage with first blood in no time at all. Fozzie's goalkick was nodded on by the midfielder turned defender, perfect for Rizzo who made the run in behind to pass the ball comfortably past the keeper. Not an easy chance either but puts Rizzo within one goal of his previous season's tally. Interesting to see Fozzie also steadily working on the assists.
Up to the task a lot better this time with Oscar and Rizzo helping out combined with the early goal provided a better shot at the team sitting top of the league. The chances and possession favoured the side needing a win on their title rivals to stay in with the chance of possible promotion. An opposition header off a corner was the only real danger while Kermit and Rizzo combined to fashion the chance for a 2 goal lead, a chance sadly which Kermit skewed.
They may have started slow but United were top of the league and fought back. Fozzie made a sharp save down to his right while a poor kick in and control turned into a counter attack. The striker moved down the wing crossing the ball for his teammate to put the ball past the post. A let off as CBFC playing into the sun were finding it difficult to track the incoming runs into the danger area. Serendipity United should have scored from the kick in, a point blank miss headed past the post for the third time in the match.
It may have looked as if United were dominating but CBFC had converted a chance and turned the screw to craft another, however again Kermit in at the back post had a more difficult chance to score. Beaker missing out on his 100th start and the first time not starting a 6-a-side match provided a lovely cross in to the box begging for a tap in, the run never came to benefit from Beaker's superb wing play.
Goal 2-0 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 8 Big Bird
From the goal just after first whistle, the second came just before half time. After Beaker did extremely well to carry the ball the length of the pitch away from danger, Big Bird broke down the forthcoming counter attack. Swedish Chef zigzagged the ball past the two defenders, despite claims for a handball the second challenge had come off his chest leaving Chef to pick the moment to hit the mid-air ball through the keeper's legs. That goal leaves 17 with one more league team he needs to score against.
Goal 3-0 // 14 Kermit - Assist 12 Rizzo
Big Bird heads clear the keeper's long throw, Oscar dinks the ball over the defender for Kermit to work a well worked shooting opportunity with Rizzo. A good save falls back outside the box to Rizzo, keeping the ball well under control Kermit is left unmarked free for the pass as he turns quickly striking the ball through the keeper's legs for the second time. Kermit reaches double figures for the season once again.
Goal 3-1 // Serendipity United
The side in 1st place showed why they were there, when the skilful striker pulls a goal back after keeping off Big Bird and Beaker, if a little fortunate to score another looped goal like in the side's previous meeting. Beaker's block on the shot deflected back off the striker's boot over Fozzie.
CBFC were relatively in control using regular subs, the lead was built with Fozzie making important saves. United failed to create enough pressure and all their hopes were pinned too heavily on the striker up front.
Goal 4-1 // 14 Kermit - Assist 12 Rizzo
With controlled finishes already, the fourth goal is easily the best. Rizzo's pass off the kick in floats over the defence to pick out Kermit with perfection. The first touch and placed shot is so quick, its simply genius. Kermit joins Rizzo on 11 goals for the season, while the number 12 beats his previous season assists with the double here.
Goal 4-2 // Serendipity United
With the previous goalscorer on a high from scoring a long range shot was almost but not quite kept out by Fozzie. Mistakes were made after the striker was picked out with a pass in his own half with not a marker in site.
An important top four win finally achieved with four games left.
