Detailed Synopsis of the match with team news with a few screenshots from the game.
AFC Poole Mark II were using a team player borrowed from Stur Crazy, a week before the player who scored twice in a 3-1 win over them. Looking to build on an already great start to the season Rizzo had the chance to set things rolling, Kermit playing him in, the finish was past the far post after the keeper did well to close him down.
Goal 1-0 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist Hoss
Rizzo intercepts a pass, dribbles with the ball before setting off Hoss on the left wing, beating his player a neat pass to Swedish Chef and first time side foot finish across goal sends the team into the lead.
With a strong team on the pitch there was a dominance as the chances were created. Similar to the goal Rizzo involved in all the play so far again wins the ball on the left wing he exchanges a one two with Chef to go in on goal forcing a save from the keeper.
Goal 2-0 // 14 Kermit - Assist 12 Rizzo
Rizzo from a kick in sends in a ball at a great height for an unmarked Kermit to send an unstoppable header in the top corner. Kermit levels the header goal tally between himself and Rizzo on three each.
Despite a counter attack leading into AFC Poole Mark II's first chance of the game with Fozzie making sure of the already going wide shot. It was the team in the lead who looked like scoring again, Beaker first to the loose ball after Rizzo made a nuisance in the opposition defence cleverly picked out a cutting first time through ball for Chef, his shot across goal saved by the keeper. Rizzo on the rebound had a pot shot from distance smashing off the wrong side of the post.
Goal 3-0 // 6 Oscar - Assist 5 Gonzo
Gonzo's kick in around the halfway line and Oscar is away with a long range shot, on the way a deflection off an outstretched foot sends the ball heading for the far side of the net, the keeper unable to dive over enough to stop it. Oscar's goal had kept the remarkable run of scoring a goal in all his six opening games of each new season.
A three goal lead was held onto until half time, the task was not to collapse and make the match desperate as previous matches turned out.
To their delight the second half was played at the same tempo as the first with opportunities pouring out of a tap while keeping the defence water tight. Swedish Chef trying his luck with a powerful shot early in the half had it matched by the goalkeeper, he also could of reacted a moment quicker after Hoss played in a wonderful cross. They combined again on the left wing but this time Hoss unusually had a rare bad touch with the goal in sight. From a counter attack the defending of Kermit's was first class, outnumbered he read the pass before exploding up field with the ball. From defence to attack Kermit and Rizzo exchanged passes to lay the ball to Beaker, unlucky for him the goalkeeper was in the right place to prevent his shot creeping inside the post.
Goal 4-0 // (S. Chef's 90th) 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 6 Oscar
Extending the lead past 3-0 was vital in demoralising the opposition, though the match result did not look in doubt precaution and chance conversion were still needed. Having just come on Oscar losing possession received the ball back from Beaker. Knocking a pass past the defender for Chef to take a shot outside the box before the keeper could set himself, the angle had enough to creep past the outstretched right foot. Swedish Chef just needing another 10 goals to join Kermit in the 100 goals club.
As you would expect of a strong lead the pressure was kept up from the team in front, even with Rizzo not on the pitch the team was more than capable enough to keep the game under control. Having Hoss helped a great deal, passing was always to his target, his skills and trickery were too much for AFC Poole Mark II's biggest threat, his decision making was fast, more often in the right place at the right time, all that was missing was a goal. Along with Hoss Kermit was a standout player as numerous times he exploded forward while his passing was top notch. A clever one two with Beaker in the corner was too quick for any player to finish the tap in that was provided from the cross along the box, Chef had his follow up setup shut out. Sparked from the quality header in the first half his confident fast play in setting up his teammates with flick ons and set pieces were close to fruition. When it mattered Kermit picked out the pass to Chef's turn and run but bagging a hattrick had eluded Chef for the past twenty games, hence on this occasion he scooped at the shot instead of some power.
Searching for a fifth goal there was little resistance to face giving Fozzie an easy night in between the posts. Gonzo, Kermit and Rizzo all had their shots blocked. Oscar had a difficult header to cope with however defender Hoss had the best chance. Hoss sends a cross field ball to Rizzo, he runs the ball to Kermit who already had the picture of picking out Hoss in the box. Sadly for him he got too much height and not enough power on the attempt to score his next goal.
Goal 5-0 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 14 Kermit
To round off the performance on the final whistle and courtesy of Kermit, after reading a cross, countering and sending a neat pass down the line to Rizzo, a simple pass through the legs of the keeper extends Rizzo's goalscoring run of games to seven.
Fozzie ended the match with his second clean sheet in as many games, back to back makes such a great achievement for the team known to leak goals like a colander. To score so convincingly builds on just how good the current run of form is, seven wins in eight. A dominant performance sends the team up to second place as they face their toughest challenge against first in their next game.
