Detailed Synopsis of the match with team news with a few screenshots from the game.
Back in the sunlight for the coming Spring and Summer months where the team were starting off into the next century of games having reached 100 games. CBFC had a strong line-up full of capable goalscorers to take on the team languishing in last place. It was started with a pass and move to create the first opportunity, Kermit intercepting a pass, laying a ball off and then making a run into the box, Rizzo had found him with an excellent pass though Kermit could not lay the ball off at the edge of the area the incoming tackle had landed him with a shot on goal. Just a shame the shot was unfortunately in the small gap of between the outside of the far post and Rizzo's boot.
Early possession was good mainly down to winning balls quickly and efficient passing, Rizzo set up Swedish Chef for a poor shot, Kermit worked himself a shot on goal that lacked power and Hoss crafted himself a shot at goal off the left wing from defence whistling just past same post from earlier.
Goal 0-1 // Steau Needarest
After entering the CBFC half for the first time Steau Needarest scored first taking advantage of the run of the ball. Firstly the assist meant for a pass on the ground bounces up on the player causing the ball to chip into the box, the defender on the halfway line makes a run into the box to head the ball in before Hoss can make the clearance.
Goal 1-1 // 4 Beaker - Assist 14 Kermit
Beaker equalised 90 seconds later when Fozzie's quick pass out to Kermit gave him time to bring the ball forward and play in a clever pass to the corner of the opposition box. Beaker had made the run scooping the ball first time over the keeper but more importantly underneath the crossbar into the net. Beaker already matching his previous season's goal tally in the same game as last season where he scored a hattrick against the same opponents.
Hoss and Rizzo did their usual best in keeping possession not looking under pressure at any point, Rizzo working himself a kick in picked out Kermit free unmarked inside the box with a pinpoint outside of the boot pass, Kermit was really disappointed with his connection on the shot. Chef had a very rare header on target but the power was lacking and the keeper on the line had an easy job with the catch.
Goal 2-1 // Hoss - Assist 14 Kermit
Starting from Fozzie again team CBFC pass the ball around (Rizzo getting fouled dirty off the ball in the process) until Hoss receives the ball in the middle of Steau's half. He shoots from distance with his left foot through the two players into the bottom right corner. His first goal since 3rd August 2010 where he scored a brilliant solo effort back in the 5-a-side season.
Goal 3-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 8 Big Bird
Another crisp goal ending Swedish Chef's barren run. Hoss dispossesses the advancing player, Big Bird picking up the pieces passes quickly forward. Chef chops the ball past the defender's tackle striking the ball, the keeper not well balanced to get anything more than a fingertip on the ball. Chef level with Rizzo on 5 goals.
Fozzie had made a couple of simple saves in the half but the lead was well deserved the possession a clear mile in the higher numbers for Cillit Bang FC and the chances were rising. Hoss and Swedish Chef combined setting up Beaker for a shot on target saved on the edge of the box with moments later Rizzo playing a lovely ball deep into the box that Chef was close to flicking in.
Kermit could and maybe should of got the half rolling with the next goal after great work again from Hoss to tackle and play a through ball past the defenders for Kermit to place his shot first time. Fozzie was briefly required to dive low to his right to push an incoming shot away from goal but instead of reducing the score it just increased.
Goal 4-1 // 14 Kermit - Assist 8 Big Bird
Big Bird plays a larger part in this next goal after winning the tackling, dinking the ball past a player before charging down the wing and whipping in a delightful cross begging for a tap in. Kermit obliged but almost put himself in the horrible bracket off missing from less than a yard out. The taxi was averted with his tap in back towards the keeper but over the line before it could be kept out. Kermit scores in game number 1 and 101.
Hoss was unhappy with a challenge after winning a tackle resulting in a faceoff with the same player who kicked out on Rizzo earlier, frustration city the referee cooled proceedings. The score could have been reduced when Steau pulled off a great move to work a shot on goal in the box, however Fozzie had closed down the forward to make his life difficult.
Goal 5-1 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 8 Big Bird
Despite the opposition showing some fight the quality of play was too much too bare. The Steau keeper's mistake in taking his goalkick too quickly gave Big Bird the time to read the pass and pick out a header to Rizzo who duly took the opportunity to score at the near post to extend his goalscoring run to nine games and back on top of the top scorer list for the season. Big Bird accumulating his third assist of the match.
Oscar accidently turning up late for the match made his mark for the final few minutes.
Goal 6-1 // 17 Swedish Chef - Assist 14 Kermit
The team had been merciless all game and a good move all round involving all outfield players Beaker, Oscar, Rizzo passing the ball until Kermit drilled the ball towards goal. The ball had beaten the keeper but it appeared to be going in before the defender could keep it out, it didn't matter as Swedish Chef was there to backheel the ball into the net stealing the goal to go level with Rizzo for the second time in the match. Kermit notching up his third assist of the match alongside Big Bird.
Fozzie made another great saving by closing down the attacker again after Steau Needarest to their credit continued to search for a goal, with Oscar playing his part in cleaning up the second ball. Kermit and Rizzo combined on a counterattack and both had chances to score if not for the keeper making some decent saves.
Goal 7-1 // 4 Beaker - Assist 12 Rizzo
Beaker wraps up the scoring in style, Hoss having a perfect passing record passes down the line, Rizzo collects the ball flicks it past the defender and firing a fierce shot at goal. The rebound bounces out for Beaker to take a left footed strike from distance smashing into the top left corner. Beaker beats his previous season best of goals of three with pure quality in his strikes.
One of those games where the team would of loved to carry on playing to cash in however the biggest six-a-side win would do. Impressive performances all round but none more so than Hoss who played almost perfect freeing up the rest of the team in attack.
