Detailed Synopsis of the match with team news with a few screenshots from the game.
CBFC were relatively on top however neither side took advantage of the chances they received, Beaker had the only two shots on target in the opening ten minutes within 5 seconds of one another, however good keeping kept him out. There was not the nasty aggressive tone in the game some might have predicted, AFC Boscombe were poor in possession and not as good at keeping the ball from the second match of the season.
Goal 1-0 // 12 Rizzo - Assist 5 Gonzo
One sixtieth of the second half was all it took for Rizzo to find the net and put his side in front. After chest controlling Gonzo's scooped pass and cutting inside with a neat piece of skill not even a desperate attempt from the defence to keep the shot out could stop the goal, it even helped the shot edge further away from the keeper.
Goal 1-1 // AFC Boscombe
With Fozzie saving a long range shot the avoidable corner as a result immediately was a concern with slack marking the major downfall. The shot from a couple of yards out could have been miss of the season as the goal only just kept under the bar.
Goal 1-2 // AFC Boscombe - Own Goal 14 Kermit
After Kermit was dispossessed as the last man in defence upon kick off, Fozzie made another save keeping out the weak shot. The ball rebounding to the shot taker he squared the ball across the box for his teammate to shoot, Gonzo blocked, Fozzie fell down. The first Boscombe player had an open net to head in, sadly with the ball heading towards Gonzo, Fozzie or past the post Kermit's attempted block diverted the shot into the net.
You could see the side having lost 2 goals and the lead within 33 seconds were still despondent desperately needing to recover before losing any more ground in the match. It was close to happening when a goalkick was intercepted close to the goal with the shot going narrowly wide. After a few minutes the match was back into the same flow to the first half with little posing any threats to the goals. The match did start to become heated. A foul by a Boscombe player was argued with, the player then kicking the ball away, worthy of a yellow card as seen before.
Goal 2-2 // 12 Rizzo
Without looking likely to score Rizzo equalised benefitting from a very very poor kick in by a AFC Boscombe defender. With the last man in defence making a break forward Rizzo need only intercept the kick in with his chest to immediately make Boscombe panic for their lives. The last man coming in on Rizzo's left came in very handy in deflecting another shot past the keeper this time in the opposite corner.
The chances came for the third goal. Kermit cutting out a ball in the opposite half from a free kick clearance led to a sliced shot. Moments after Rizzo was put through from Chris and his clearance, which found its way through the midfield however the left footed strike just not getting enough direction towards the net. Rizzo did much better when his next chance came controlling a drilled kick in turning the defender before he could get brought down and striking with his left again which the keeper did well to catch from close range.
Goal 2-3 // AFC Boscombe
It was unlucky for Fozzie to miss kick a drop goal kick once in the game however he made the mistake again miss hitting the ball to a Boscombe player in the middle of the CBFC half. Good passing between the three forwards to punish the mistake.
Goal 3-3 // Nick H - Assist 14 Kermit
An exchange of passes at kick off instantly gave Rizzo the chance to run at the back two, with three against two Rizzo takes the ball out wide before delivering the cross, almost pulled down by the defender desperately trying to stop Rizzo with his hands. Kermit similar to a recent cup game hits the post from a couple of yards out. Fortunately to save the captain from embarrassment Nick was there to place the ball into the net past the keeper.
The game was getting tenser by the minute and this time AFC Boscombe's physical approach was rightly dealt with by the referee upon tackles where the player was taken down before ball. They were unfortunate to concede a foul on Kermit, the player had won the tackle but after the number 14 was sandwiched between two aggressive tackles it was deemed by the referee as a CBFC free kick. Tightly contested and the reward ended the abysmal run of nine straight defeats with a decent point.
