Gonzo Sent Off in Muppet Gate
Team News: A. Muppet to the rescue gives the side a team at the very least to play. Rizzo, Big Bird, Swedish Chef and Oscar all unavailable - either away or injured.
Previous Results: Played 5 Won 4 Drawn 1 Lost 1 - Jabalani's taste a deserved victory against a strong CBFC side amidst a bucket of controversy.
First Half
Goal 1-0 // 14 Kermit - Assist 5 Gonzo
Kermit gets off to a great start with a goal to put the side in front, Gonzo intercepts a poor pass forward, both he and Kermit quickly combine before the Jabalani players can recover.
One shot one goal; on the other hand Jabalani's bossed in the chances department. The side had a bundle of shots to score, a powerful shot after the defender dribbled forward was seen late by Fozzie yet he got his hand to the top corner effort. From the corner at the back stick the header on a virtually open goal was missed yet two appearance CBFC player Chris almost converted the second bite of the cherry.
Goal 1-1 // Jabalani's Legacy
Having somehow not already scored in the opening five minutes the equaliser follows after A. Muppet fails to put through Gonzo. Receiving the ball on the wing the player who wreaked havoc in the previous meeting against the two sides takes aim for the top corner he was denied once already by Fozzie. The pace and height of the shot too much to handle.
The first decision Gonzo is not happy about with the referee happen midway through the half. The pass across the pitch is too much for the JL player to control, missing Gonzo the kick in is awarded to Jabalani's. Little else could be said of the half as Jabalani's Legacy were fairly comfortable in defence yet lacked the quality up top to do further damage with the possession they had in the opposite half.
Second Half
Goal 1-2 // Jabalani's Legacy
Chris taking the ball before it heads out for a kick in plays two cracking passes to his teammates, off the second chance whether the player intended his touch on the ball as a shot which crawled in off the post or intended as a pass to the player at the back post. Either way the goal was scored on the first attack for JL.
Goal 1-3 // Jabalani's Legacy
After Kermit and Beaker up the other end tried their luck it was JL who scored with their next attempt, having just come on as sub the scorer wasted no time running at the defence shooting back across goal into the corner.
Goal 2-3 // 10 A. Muppet - Assist 5 Gonzo
Beaker breaks down JL in attack with Gonzo receiving the ball in the centre, passing to his option on the left, A. Muppet controls the ball before scoring into the far corner with his first shot of the match and scoring his first for the season and the last of 2012 for team CBFC.
Goal 2-4 // Jabalani's Legacy
Fozzie having previously kept a shot out with a strong save, the ball came right back off Beaker's clearance. Similar to the recent match v Tesco Mafia the ball from the wing lofted underneath the bar but over Fozzie. Again facing a similar situation, was the goal meant to be a cross into the box for the player waiting to pounce? Judging from the reaction of the player that was a yes. However he enjoyed back to back hat-tricks against the side for the season.
More potency in attack which has been lacking of late causes Beaker, Gonzo and Kermit to work themselves a shooting chance, Kermit on the end of the move volleys from close range which the keeper saves well for the corner.
CBFC Disallowed Goal
Gonzo's driven corner dips in front of the keeper, with a difficult catch to make the ball skews off the keeper goalwards and over the line, the player on the line scoops the ball clear. Gonzo on the line appeals for the goal, however the referee is unsure whether or not the ball clearly crossed the line, the Jabalani players played on neither confirming nor denying what happened.
Red Card - 5 Gonzo
After seeing the disallowed goal from his perspective, seeing the decision to not allow the goal, Gonzo criticises the referee's decision making. After a minute of discussion and further dissent from Gonzo the referee shows a straight red card. Play resumed wrongly with a free kick in Jabalani's box, in the furore of the situation the drop ball should have been used with Nick in possession of the ball at time of the whistle, a minor decision to be fair but what a dramatic end to the year. CBFC were for the third time this season playing with just five players.
There was not enough time left for anything to affect the result, A. Muppet won a foul on the edge of the area, Kermit could not get the shot through the wall. Along came another well worked chance with Nick the provider but Kermit's shot had the keeper denying him yet again. The save drifting up field for the lone Jabalani's Legacy player to shoot wide on the final whistle to his amusement. JL do the double over the side for the season.
