Revenge Tastes Good... for Poole that is
Team News: A. Muppet was the only change in the line-up. Rizzo unavailable, Oscar and Swedish Chef both long term absentees.
Previous Results: Played 6 Won 4 Lost 2 - Last encounter providing much excitement in the dying moments with a last minute winner from Hoss.
First Half
Goal 0-1 // AFC Poole Mark II
Within the first minute of kick off and for the third time in this season's cup competition the lead was lost in the first minute. Breaking on the counter attack from a corner, the pace was too quick for the CBFC defence and Poole just managed to steer home the ball into the box with an outstretched leg.
Goal 0-2 // AFC Poole Mark II
The keeper was very pleased with his assist on the second goal with the bounce of the ball taking itself over Nick and Big Bird leaving the striker to smash the ball convincingly upon the first touch into the net.
Nick and Kermit having hard shots off target, Big Bird hitting his shot out for a kick in to his amusement. Fozzie was required to make a save, the ball still dangerous in the box which eventually found a clearance. Poole having numerous other shots hit well but not on target.
Goal 0-3 // AFC Poole Mark II
CBFC were trying to play their way out of their own half, however the space was squeezed by four of AFC Poole's players. Winning the ball back for the second time the man in behind the defence need only control the ball outside the defence and place the ball into the net to score yet again.
Goal 0-4 // AFC Poole Mark II
32 seconds separating the third and fourth goals, with the match result heading the way of the previous cup matches the confidence of the opposition was there to see with a first time shot across goal caressing the inside of the post.
Beaker tested the keeper not long after the ten minute mark but you feel it was too little too late, the problem of movement in CBFC's ranks still proving a killer. Defending against the immobility of the side was too easy for most of the opposite teams in recent games.
Goal 1-4 // 14 Kermit
With a self-inflicted bad kick in Poole paid for one of the only mistakes they made as Kermit was gifted the ball on the halfway line, beating his man he shot across goal with not enough on the save to keep it out.
Second Half
That tiny glimmer of hope was there for a few minutes however despite a better possession of the play, the lack of guile in CBFC's depleted ranks combined with the opposition's solid defensive display left a sad resignment to the inevitable ninth consecutive defeat. There would be no remarkable comeback this time.
Goal 1-5 // AFC Poole Mark II
A kick in close to the byline lacked the power to reach Poole's box, a simple headed clearance broke for the lone striker between defence and keeper too easily as he steadied himself before scoring.
Goal 1-6 // AFC Poole Mark II
Broken down yet again with no way to get through Poole win the ball, play the pass forward setting up another shot in one simple move, the ball bounces at the lowest point at Fozzie's position leaving him no chance to keep it out.
Goal 2-6 // 8 Big Bird - Assist 5 Gonzo
As the defensive players played further forward Big Bird found himself receiving the ball free in the centre of the half from a cleared cross. Striking the ball cleanly the ball flies through the air into the top corner. Another long range quality Big Bird finish for the scrapbook, deserved more.
Goal 2-7 // AFC Poole Mark II
After the 9-2 defeat AFC Poole in the previous season were giving it back big style themselves, scoring when they got the chance on a quick break, Fozzie saved a powerful first strike one on one however it was impossible to stop the follow up.
Goal 3-7 // 14 Kermit - Assist 5 Gonzo
The third goal was created with a lovely bit of skill from Nick controlling the ball cutting inside stroking the ball out wide to the number 5, Gonzo kept the ball alive passing infield to his reinforcement Kermit, despite running into trouble he was fortunate to come through the tackle to pass the ball into the net.
It did not matter to the result but Beaker setup another chance with his diagonal forward pass, however the pace of the ball gave Kermit a difficult chance for his hat-trick attempt. Big Bird was waiting on the far post for the cross. After a deluge of last minute shots including Gonzo's curved effort across goal missing the far post the side were glad to see the back of the cup for the season.
