With Bay Town having started the brighter, a couple of early testing shots were kept out, on the other hand Subotic tried from inside the opposing half to score. Schieber in goal this game parried a long range strike away from goal, the Bay player first to the ball looked to weave past Josh close to the byline. With the heavy touch taking the ball out of bounds the decision to go down under Josh's hasty body check gave the referee the choice of awarding a rare penalty.
Shots were thin and far between up the other end however a great piece of play from Sahin and Subotic gave the former a perfect chance at goal, after having the first shot saved his follow up with time to pick his spot was stopped once again.
Despite the humid conditions Cillit Bang played well to stay in the game with Schieber doing a quality job in goal. Hanging in there gave them every chance of taking any one of the chances they could create before the match would end. That moment almost came when Reus was unfortunate not to receive the pass across the box from Lewandowski, Hummels further forward moments later found the number 9 free inside the box for two chances to score. With Reus blocking the first shot the defender did his job stopping the second in the follow up, the best chance since Sahin in the first period.
That was that as Bay Town dominated the rest of the match scoring the second goal but the result could have been worse, however a decent performance at the back kept the result looking respectable.
